
Dutch E-Commerce Site, Marktplaats, Will Launch a New Design The biggest e-commerce site in the Netherlands, Marktplaats (English: market place), will launch their new web-design in the next three weeks. The website has generated 10 million registered accounts. So far Marktplaats has not launched any preview of the new design. According to the director of Marktplaats Olivier van Duijn to Dutch news site Nu.nl, the essence of the website will stay the same, but the website will be quicker and more user-friendly. Product categories will be more organized, placing advertisement will be less complicated, and product comparison will be simpler. Marktplaats has been testing its new design to 2850 Marktplaats users since mid-March this year. The result of the experiment shows that 63% of users find the new design much better than the old one. Users feel the new design enables most definitely improved the usability. Marktplaats has been one of the most popular sites in the Netherlands, ranked 2nd. as the most popular Dutch site in 2011. The website receives over 6.5 million unique visitors monthly. In November 2004, Marktplaats was acquired by eBay, the biggest online auction site worldwide.

Does anyone know why Marktplaats.nl doesn't allow Google Chrome to automatically translate its website anymore? Translation is a lifeline for non-Dutch speaking ex pats!!!
